EU Film Days is a unique film festival that brings the best of European cinema to audiences in Japan. The selected films, many of which are being shown for the first time in Japan, have been chosen in order to exhibit the wide range of filmmaking talent in the European Union as well as to showcase the EU’s cultural diversity and vibrancy. This year’s 19th edition will take place both in a traditional format (in Tokyo and Kyoto, with 27 programmes from 26 EU member states) and online (on Festival Scope, with 10 programmes from our traditional festival and 8 more only available online). We hope that many of you will enjoy this opportunity to experience the distinction and diversity of European filmmaking.
This year the Italian Cultural Institute presents Gianni Amelio’s film “Holding Hands” (2017/Italy/108 minutes).
